Pause and Recognize One Moment You Handled Better Than You Realize
It’s surprisingly easy to remember what went wrong this week.
The conversation you wish you’d handled differently. The task you didn’t finish. The moment you felt overwhelmed. The thing you wish you’d said—or hadn’t said.
But what about everything you did handle?
Today, give yourself a moment to notice one of those things.
✨ Write Down One Thing You Handled Well
Think back over the past week and choose one situation you handled well.
Maybe you stayed calm during a stressful moment. You spoke up for yourself. You finished something difficult. You asked for help when you needed it. You were patient with someone. You kept going when you wanted to give up.
Write it down.
It doesn’t have to be impressive to anyone else.
If you know it wasn’t easy, it counts.
Why This Tiny Habit Matters
We can be remarkably quick to criticize ourselves while overlooking the moments when we showed strength, patience, courage, or growth.
Writing down something you handled well gives you a chance to see yourself through a kinder lens.
It also reminds you that progress isn’t always about achieving something enormous. Sometimes, growth looks like responding differently, making a difficult choice, or simply getting through something that once felt impossible.
You deserve to notice your own effort.
Make It Easy
At the end of each week, take two minutes to answer one question:
“What did I handle well this week?”
Write down the first genuine answer that comes to mind.
If you can’t think of something immediately, look for a small moment. Maybe you were kinder to yourself, dealt with an inconvenience without losing your patience, or did something even though you were nervous.
Keep your answers in a journal or notes app so you can look back on them whenever you need a reminder of how capable you’ve been.
🌼 “Don’t let your mistakes become the only moments you remember. Give yourself credit for what you handled well, too.”
Today, write down one thing you handled well this week—and give yourself the credit you might normally forget to give yourself.
